3-Minute Fame: The PhD pitch competition by EU Green

  • The EU Green European Alliance is launching the second edition of its 3-Minute Fame public speaking competition, open to PhD students from the University of Angers (UA) and the 8 partner universities. This competition challenges participants to explain their PhD thesis in English, in a clear, impactful, and accessible manner, in just 3 minutes.

  • The University of Angers has climbed up the ranks in the 2026 edition of the THE World University Rankings, improving its national and international position after entering the prestigious list last year. This rise is largely due to the university's research activity.

Eiffel Scholarships: Attracting Promising Talent

  • The France Excellence Eiffel scholarship programme has enabled UA's Mint research unit to host a young Indian researcher since October. For the next three years, Shreya Dey will be conducting research into lung cancer as part of her PhD. This research aims to improve treatment effectiveness for lung cancer.

Breath: the first cohort has started the new academic year

  • The first ten laureates of the European Breath programme gathered in Angers from 20 to 22 October for a welcome session and training courses. All of these doctoral students have international backgrounds and will be working on topics combining health with humanities and social sciences.

Research: ANR Interference to control pests and protect bees

  • At the Functional Signalling of Ion Channels and Receptors Laboratory (SiFCIR), Valérie Raymond and Delphine Goven are conducting research into new strategies for controlling invasive insects. They will be actively involved in the ParaGluRSite project run by the French National Research Agency (ANR), which began in March 2025.

The Lost Connection: a detective's serious game

  • "The Lost Connection" is a serious game designed by the EU Green alliance. Released as a premiere during UA's Campus Day on 19 September 2025, this online investigation game offers a fun introduction to OSINT (Open Source Intelligence), an approach that involves collecting and analysing publicly available information.

Postgram: Plant Biology

From October 13, 2025 to November 30, 2025

  • The Postgram micro master's programme lets third-year undergraduate students explore up to 25% of their future master's degree courses through an interactive online programme.

Erasmus+ Project SLS4TEENS

  • The EUGREEN alliance and the Erasmus+ project SLS4TEENS partners brought together experts from Germany, Spain and Italy for workshops on innovative language learning methods.

Tools to Detect Persistant Pollutants in Soil

  • The Analysis and Processes Group (GA&P), led by Maxime Pontié, takes part in the E-SPFdigit European research project on polluted soils. The Anjou research team is particularly interested in PFAS.

The neurolinguistic approach at the heart of discussions in Spain

  • Delphine Guedat-Bittighoffer, a teacher-researcher at Cirpall, has been coordinating the Second Language Learning at School for all teenagers (SLS4Teens) research project since 2023. The teachers and researchers of the EU Green alliance met in Spain in mid-March for a progress report.

KulturA, a high-level course with a European dimension

  • The KulturA programme is a trilingual intercultural programme in the English-German section of the LLCER bachelor's degree in partnership with the University of Kassel (Germany). Students Vera, Svenja and Hannah talk about their life at the UA.

Luminous helices

  • Thanks to European funding, British researcher Catherine Killalea is spending two years as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Angers. Together with her mentor, David Canevet, she will explore the properties of helical molecules for potential advances in display and imaging.

A new era in terahertz radiation control
