Five Marie-Curie postdoctoral fellowships awarded to the University of Angers in 2023!
The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions are the European Union’s reference programme for doctoral education and postdoctoral training. They contribute to excellent research, boosting jobs, growth and investment by equipping researchers with new knowledge and skills. They foster research cooperation across borders, sectors and disciplines.
The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships aim to support the creative and innovative potential of postdoctoral researchers wishing to acquire new skills through advanced training, international, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral mobility.
UA granted 2 MSCA postdoctoral fellowships...
The University of Angers was recently granted two postdoctoral fellowships as part of the Horizon Europe's Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions.
The first funding will go to Catherine Elizabeth Killalea, an English scientist who will join the University of Angers as a postdoctoral researcher within the Moltech research laboratory for a period of two years.
Her project is entitled: "Stimuli-responsive chiral foldamers in solution and light-emitting diodes."
The second funding has been awarded to Maxime Fairon, a Belgian researcher who will join the LAREMA laboratory for two years as well. He will work on the following project: "Integrable Many-Body Systems through the Mathematical Lens."
... and 3 MSCA4Ukraine fellowships!
As part of the MSCA4Ukraine initiative, set up by the European Commission to welcome Ukrainian researchers, UA is also proud to have been awarded grants for three Ukrainian researchers.
- Svitlana Plotnytska will join the Granem research laboratory for a 2-year fellowship under the supervision of Frédérique CHEDOTEL. She will work on the CIDI STEP project: "The potential of collective intelligence for sustainable digital transformation in SMEs".
- Nataliya Plyuta will join the Moltech-Anjou research laboratory for a 2-year fellowship under the supervision of Nicolas ZIGON and Narcis AVARVARI. She will work on the CONTINUES project: "Conducting (chiral) ladders and nanotubules".
- Oksana Kharchenko will join the MINT research laboratory for a 2-year fellowship under the supervision of Oksana KRUPKA. She will work on the "Thermosensitive and Photosensitive Polyoxazolines Based polymers as Switches and Fluorescent Labels for Biomedical Applications" project.

There are 2 types of Postdoctoral Fellowships:
- European Postdoctoral Fellowships (EF). They are open to researchers moving within Europe or coming to Europe from another part of the world to pursue their research career. These fellowships take place in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country and can last between 1 and 2 years. Researchers of any nationality can apply.
- Global Postdoctoral Fellowships (GF). They fund the mobility of researchers outside Europe. The fellowship lasts between 2 to 3 years, of which the first 1 to 2 years will be spent in a non-associated Third Country, followed by a mandatory return phase of 1 year to an organisation based in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country. Only nationals or long-term residents of the EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries can apply.
