Giving Week

The University of Angers will once again join the global #GivingTuesday movement by hosting a Giving Week this year!
From 28 November to 4 December, the UA community will promote all forms of commitment and giving, as well as the structures and people who rally together throughout the year. A variety of events will take place throughout the week allowing staff and students to donate in different forms and ways :
The Giving Christmas event
This event will launch Giving Week and mark the start of Christmas celebrations at UA.
The UA community as well as the local surrounding community are invited for an evening of Xmas origami workshops, a Mario cart tournament, a musical quiz and karaoké, Xmas decorations and traditional French "vin chaud" (hot red wine with spices). All proceeds will be donated to solidary associations.
Collecting and distributing anonymous Christmas gifts
The "small boxes of happiness" are given to students with financial difficulties. They are given anonymously and may contain cultural items (books, mangas, tickets for the movies or for the bowling alley, etc.) or a delicacies (chocolates, or other Christmas sweets). Each box is given with a personalised greeting card written by the person who has donated the gift.
Noël Partagé (Share Xmas)
International students at UA who cannot go home to their families for Christmas have the opportunity to spend Christmas eve or Christmas day with a local family from UA's staff.
On-campus blood drive
UA's University Health Service is hosting an on-campus blood drive for students and staff in order to make blood donations easily accessible to the community.
Collecting and distributing food, clothing and everyday student essentials
- AGORAE will be collecting and distributing food to students in need,
- Different student associations will be collecting and distributing clothes.
- UA's Sharing Box (or Boite à Partage) will collect and distribute everyday essentials (tableware, pots and pans, cleaning and personal hygiene products, unused folders, notebooks, paper, pens, etc.).
- The local Emergency Medical Services will collect and distribute blankets to the city's homeless community.
CleanWalk
The UA sport service is organizing a CleanWalk to pick up litter in the green areas surrounding the campus. This 3 hour event is open to all of the UA community.
A 24-hour charity run
To end the week, students and staff are invited to join the 24-hour charity run and take on the challenge of running 1000 km together. All proceeds will go to support research in the field of rare diseases and to improving the lives of patients and their families.
