BIOGEO-2D When the sediment interface speaks in color : Reveal 2D biogeochemical gels

The event in a few words:

The Angers Autumn School (AAS) is a scientific event organized by students from the BEE Master’s program (Biology, Ecology, and Evolution), specializing in Marine Environments, Anthropization and Diagnosis (MAD) at the University of Angers, and researchers from the Laboratory of Planetology and Geosciences (LPG).

This year, the event will again focus on exploring biogeochemical processes in sediments in 2 dimensions at sub-millimeter scale using 2D DET (Diffusive Equilibrium in Thin film) gels, coupled with colorimetric methods and hyperspectral imaging. It will take place over five days, from 9 to 13 November 2026 at the Faculty of Science of the University of Angers.

During the week, a variety of activities will be offered:

-  Conferences held by researchers
- A day on the field in the Loire estuary at Brillantes mudflat
- Work in the laboratory to prepare, calibrate and analyze the gels
- Hyperspectral image processing and flux modeling

The AAS 2026 offers a unique opportunity to discover and experience methods in biogeochemistry with internationally recognized specialists.

L'événement en quelques mots :

L'Angers Autumn School (AAS) est un événement scientifique organisé par les étudiants du Master Biologie, Écologie et Évolution (BEE), spécialité Mer, Anthropisation et Diagnostic (MAD) de l'Université d'Angers et des chercheurs du Laboratoire de Planétologie et Géosciences (LPG).

Cette année, cet événement sera consacré de nouveau à l'exploration des processus biogéochimiques des sédiments en 2 dimensions à l’échelle submillimétrique à l'aide de gels DET 2D (Diffusive Equilibrium in Thin film) couplés à des méthodes colorimétriques et à l’imagerie hyperspectrale.

L’évènement se déroulera sur cinq jours, du 9 au 13 novembre 2026 à la Faculté des Sciences de l’Université d’Angers. Pendant la semaine, différentes activités seront au programme :

- Conférences par des chercheurs
- Journée de terrain dans l’estuaire de la Loire sur la vasière des Brillantes
- Travail en laboratoire pour préparer, calibrer et analyser les gels
- Traitement des images hyperspectrales et modélisation des flux

L’AAS 2026 offre aux participants une occasion unique de découvrir et d'expérimenter des méthodes de pointe en biogéochimie avec des spécialistes reconnus internationalement.
